• Can I use my Alaska companion fare if I pay with a gift card or flight credit?

I have an Alaska Companion Fare Question.

I read that you can pay for part of Alaska flights with gift cards or flight credits but not on Virgin.

My flight is on Alaska so this isn’t a problem.

I have multiple $60 off $300 Amex offers and one happens to be on P2’s Aspire so hopefully, the new $50 credit will stack.

I planned to buy a flight for just over $300, and cancel for a credit.

I then planned to use those credits and put a small amount on my Alaska card because it is my understanding that I need to pay with my card.

Is there a limit to how many credits/payment methods I can use?

If so, can I call to bypass this? Any flaws in my plan?

Just be careful that it’s a fully refundable ticket and that you need to push to elect to have it in the form of AS credits and not a refund back to the original payment.

I in a way recently did this myself just wasn’t on purpose

You can really only use one payment method. If your wallet credit is not sufficient to cover the cost of the flight, then you can use a credit card for the remainder. You can pay the full cost with the companion code with wallet credit. It is an exception.

There is no limit on how many credits you can use. If Alaska Wallet credits cover the entire cost of the flight plus taxes using a companion code, be it. It works. If it doesn’t, the remaining amount will be paid by Alaska credit card. I’ve been buying discounted Alaska gift cards from Costco and using them with a companion code to book flights.
