To the Chase system, yes but if the Authorized User card is what puts you over 5/24, then you can still apply, get denied, and call the Recon department to have the card notated as AU/Not Responsible and the application reviewed.

I don’t know if the Chase system is getting smarter or what, but my wife has four of her own plus an AU and Chase has been automatically approving her without the need for recon. Either that or they aren’t counting her store card from Anne Taylor. I’ve heard mixed data points on whether single store cards are included in the 5/24 count, so it’s possible she’s sitting at 4/24 with the AU. One of them is also a Cap One business card on her personal report. In any event, the AU card will fall off in March and then one more in June and two more in July, leaving her at worse 1/24, so it’ll be time to explore some new options then.

I put my wife on 5 as AU, she had 4 of her own within 18 months, and had zero trouble getting approved for CSP online.

It counts against 5/24 for the person you add as an AU, not for the primary cardholder.
