Just finished a short one-night stay at the St Regis Bangkok yesterday.
The cash rate was $400 a night for standard rooms, we used our 35k cert + 3k for redemption.
Marriott Platinum Elite here and it was a terrible experience.
Not synonymous with all the other St Regis experiences we had.
The hotel felt like a cost-cutting victim on all corners.
No upgrade, we had a friend join us for the complimentary elite recognition drinks by the bar.
The waiter gave us a limited menu to pick from, not able to order from the regular menu, and then strictly enforced a 2-drink limit per room.
Tells us we will be charged a la carte prices if we order a 3rd drink.
The champagne sabering ritual was also very sad.
They poured a mere sip from that one bottle and then split it among 30 something guests.
The butler provides a complimentary tea/coffee setup in the room and 2 free garment laundry per day, and that’s pretty much it.
Breakfast had extensive variety, but if you compare it with any Bangkok chain brands, breakfast are equally comprehensive.
I think our biggest disappointment was we were in the Siam area (on the day of check-in) for lunch when the live shooting happened.
It was a nightmare to exit, and we were stuck there for hours because they shut down the BTS. And no cabs or Grab would take us.
We reached out to the hotel, but their response was super unsympathetic, and were negotiating with us on the charges to pick us up.
We ended up walking to the hotel in the rain and checked in late.
When we arrived, none of the staff were empathetic about our situation, they just shrugged and gave us a robotic check-in when we shared our experience.
