Even if you have had a criminal conviction (non-felony), it doesn’t mean you will automatically be denied.
The key is to be truthful in the application.
I knew someone who had a DUI that was pled down to careless driving, but she admitted it on the application (they said they could see it) and she was approved.
I also know someone who answered no, and they were denied because they had a misdemeanor conviction they didn’t know about 30 years prior (when he was in college).
He had pled “continuance for dismissal” and was told it would be off his record in a year.
Turned out it was entered as a guilty plea.
He pulled his record from the county he was convicted at to see, he had no idea.
He appealed his application saying he only found out 30 years after the fact and they approved his application in the end.
They charge the $100 up front and you are not refunded if you are denied.
