AMEX frequently offers generous bonus points if you register for “pay over time”.
Once you have the card you could call AMEX to see if such an offer is on your card.
If not, don’t agree to sign up for that. An offer will be coming your way eventually.
That said, there is no requirement for you to carry a balance to receive the bonus, so don’t do that.
