Is Alaska First Class or AA Flagship Business Class better?
I’ve never flown Alaska before but I’m planning an SFO / Ventana Big Sur / Alila Napa Valley trip end of August 2024 and AS and AA both came up in my searches.
JetBlue has decent JFK-SFO Mint prices but for SFO-JFK, AA Flagship Business and Alaska First are close.
In terms of Alaska Airlines vs American Airlines, which has the better product soft & hard?
AA is lie-flat while AS has recliner seats (that might be the deciding factor) but I think AS probably has a better soft product right now.
Given that the price difference isn’t much would I be better off saving $175 and going with AA business or is AS worth the higher price?

Alaska first class seat is relatively uncomfortable IMO.
All other things being equal, go with the lie-flats

My order of preference would be:
Mint
AA
Alaska

If AA is lie flat then definitely AA.
If you already have status on AA and are looking to maximize your earnings then maybe AS but if it’s cheaper to fly lay flat that would be the deciding factor for me unless I really needed the EQD’s.

I personally would choose the lie-flat seat over the recliner if the prices were close.
Edited to add: if Alaska costs more than AA, then choose the lie-flat!
It’s an almost 6-hour flight and you’ll be more comfortable.

I think we are overlooking the most important part of the equation – what is the AA price compared to JetBlue?
Because JetBlue is gonna trump AA Business and even AA First in most aspects.
