Sure, Air Canada offers direct flights from Vancouver.

You can explore your options using Aeroplan.

No, you cannot transfer from United Airlines to Air India.

The only option is if United Airlines displays Air India flights.

I recommend using PointsYeah to explore other flight options besides Air India, such as Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, etc.

The Air India experience is consistently ranked as one of the worst by most travelers.

    I’d skip Air India.

It used to be good a long time ago.

It is under new management and they have started to make positive changes but it is still probably worse than any of the other airlines.

A stopover in Dubai or Abu Dhabi might not be too bad.

Air India is poised for greatness in a few years.

They have placed an order for a complete fleet of new planes, but it will take some time for them to be built.

My last experience flying with them was 10 years ago, and it was already less than optimal.

Back in 2011, I flew directly from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Delhi (DEL) on American Airlines.

I’m not sure if they still operate that flight, but you might find more direct options on the East Coast.

Alternatively, there’s a great domestic carrier called IndiGo, known for newer planes, punctuality, and affordability.

They’ve recently partnered with Turkish Airlines, so you can now fly from various US departure cities (including Denver) to your final destination in India with just one ticket.

The drawback is that you’ll have to transit through Istanbul.

However, if your ultimate destination is a smaller city in India where IndiGo operates, your baggage will be checked all the way through, and you won’t have to pay IndiGo’s baggage fees, which can add up quickly for international travel.
