Are United Basic Economy Flights Eligible For Upgrades?
I’m thinking of purchasing a United Airlines basic economy ticket from the US West Coast to Europe with a layover on the East Coast.
With the Seat Selection fee, it is still $80 cheaper than the regular economy and I get to lock in a preferred seat right now.
Since I have United Premier Silver elite status, if I pay the Seat Selection fee, will I still have a chance at economy plus at check in or does that require regular economy?

Basic economy tickets are not eligible for complimentary premier upgrades, unfortunately.

On basic economy tickets, you also can’t do cash upgrades or miles upgrades.
There is a reason why they are called BASIC economy tickets.
