Can I Gift A Hotel Free Night Award To Friend?
I have Hyatt, Marriott, and IHG Free Night Certificates and hotel points.
I won’t be able to travel for a bit and want to gift a free night using a Free Night Certificate or points for a friend.
My friend doesn’t travel much, so it’ll be easier if I just offer her one program to choose from and either gift her the FNC/points (if possible) or book a hotel award on her behalf.
Which of these programs are the most flexible in gifting to someone whom I’m not traveling with?

Hyatt allows your Free Night Cert to be booked in your friend’s name.
The program is called Hyatt Guest Of Honor.
It’s a simple phone call to support.
Bonvoy, Hilton & IHG certs are not transferable.

Yes, you just book it under your name and then add the other person as a secondary guest.
If they ask why, you just say your flight gets in later.
Never had any issue doing this.

I always give my mother in-law my free night certificates.
I just book it from my account and then call the hotel and say that her flight gets in early so if she can check-in before me.
Never had an issue and my mother in-law even gets to use my elite status.
