Can 2 People Be Linked To The Same Frequent Flyer Account?

Posted by Vernon on January 2, 2023 at 5:22 pm

What do most people do with spouses signing up for credit cards?

What I mean is, can both credit cards be linked to the same Hilton Honors account or same AA frequent flyer account?

Do they have to be separate?

Spouses should refer one another back and forth to benefit from referral bonuses.

Rules for pooling points vary by program but a very general rule is expect to keep accounts separate.

Everyone should have their own frequent flyer account.

Cobranded cards have to match the name on the account to the name on the frequent flyer program.

Some loyalty programs do allow free points pooling for families but with their own rules & limits.

Hilton accounts can send up to 500k HHonors points per year and receive up to 2M per year for free.

      No, you need separate accounts.

Hotel programs allow you to transfer points to each other (with a limit).

Most airlines have quite a bit of a charge to transfer points to others although some such as British Airways have a family pooling feature.

      No you can’t do that.
