• Do Hotel Rates Ever Go Down Before Your Stay?

Posted by Garret on January 25, 2023 at 5:01 pm

In your experience, do hotel rates go down the week before your stay?

Trying to book a hotel for Saturday and the rates just keep going up.

No big events in the area and not in downtown.

I really thought I’d be finding the opposite.

    Depends on where you travel.

If you go somewhere with lots of hotels and mostly weekday travel, then yes prices will go down.

But if you go somewhere where people go on weekends or limited number of hotels, then it will likely go up

    Are you prepaying with cash?

It makes more sense to just book the hotel with cash or points in the beginning and then monitor the price and rebook.

I never pre-pay stays for this reason bc the prices fluctuate all the time

    Use incognito browser.

The websites know you keep looking and that causes rates to go up sometimes.

I monitored a Marriott room a week before my stay using the app.

The price went down multiple times, so just depends.
