We’ve always done it on arrival with no problems, but you can also do it in advance.

Just make sure it’s with the correct website as I’ve heard there are a few scam ones.

Don’t go from Google – go from an official Indonesian government site

Make sure your passport has at least 6 months of validity.

    They’re extremely strict about it.

My sister wasn’t able to board her flight because it had less than 6 months.

Super easy to do on arrival and no wait.

Take a US $100 bill to pay for it.

You’ll get change in IDR so you have some cash to start your trip.

The ATM at the airport worked with our Schwab cards too.

We did it online and were glad we did.

We skipped the long line at the airport with everyone else who was applying on arrival, and went straight to the customs agent.

They do not accept cards, so have the cash.

I arrived via ferry and the ATMs were on the other side of Customs.

Never tried online so can’t compare.

But a few times visa on arrival without problems nor long wait.

    Just bring USD.

Good luck trying to do it online it tried for hours no luck.

But it was super easy to get once I arrived $32 USD.

And do the immigration card the day before online.

    I’m here now.
