• Recent Data Point For New Global Entry Application

    Global Entry New/Initial Application update!

My wife and I applied on Saturday afternoon and were conditionally approved on late Sunday night.

    Just over 24 hours later.

I’ll mention what our application included because I think these are important factors in how quickly applicants get conditionally approved.

Existing TSA Pre-check members, passports, driver’s licenses which are Real IDs, didn’t request an automobile in the app, physical address is the same as mailing address, and stated will be traveling internationally in the next 6 months.

I’m pretty sure someone has posted about this elsewhere, but you can circumvent the interview wait time by taking an international trip and coming back through airports that offer interviews to arriving passengers.

    My conditional was really fast.

My husband and I went to Portugal and came back to Boston.

As we were waiting to process back in through customs, I saw a line with 10 or so people off to the side and heard folks talking about the GE interviews.

I asked and they said just to ask to get in that line.

I had my interview done in under a half hour.

There are multiple airports where you can have an immediate, unscheduled interview when you are arriving back in the States.

Don’t forget to have your conditional approval available on your phone – took me a hot minute to pull that up.

This is USCBP’s website describing this – it’s an actual thing:

When we renewed ours, my wife’s was approved in 24 hours and she had her new card the following week.

    Took 6 months for mine.

The process time for me was about the same but I have never had TSA Pre Check.

I filled out the information online and got the conditional approval a few days later.

I looked for open appointments but couldn’t get anything closer than 6 months out with a planned trip.

I went to Toronto for a long weekend and didn’t realize that I could do my appointment there!

The US customs officer asked me if I applied for Global Entry and told me where to go.

I was lucky that I was at the airport so early for my flight.

My card came in the mail 4 days later.

My experience with GE was similar.

Within days I was notified of approval.

Also already had pre-check and Real ID.

A few weeks later I did the interview at JFK upon arrival from Zurich.

Just walked in with no line.

In and out in 10 minutes.

We are waiting on NEXUS/GE and it’s taking a year or more for nearly everyone.

    Ugh.

We applied the weekend before last, got approved on a Monday and drove to Champlain from MA last Friday for an interview on Saturday.

    All done within a week.

    Not bad.

My wife and I applied at the end of January 2023.

She got conditional approval in 48 hours.

Eight months later, I am still waiting.

When she did her interview, she was told it can take up to 11 months to get conditional approval.
