• How To Keep Southwest LUV Voucher From Expiring?

Posted by Bettye on October 2, 2023 at 3:11 pm

Just realized I have $450 in Southwest LUV vouchers that expires in a few days.

Is there a way to book a flight for tomorrow, then cancel it and receive flight credit (that doesn’t expire)?

I would have to pay around $90 to book the flight (vouchers don’t cover fees), hoping that would allow me to save the $450 in-flight credit for a later date.

    Yes or no?

Is this how it would work or have I just lost it all?

Any Southwest fares will create flight credit when booked with a LUV voucher and then canceled.

Southwest flight credits no longer expire, as well.

The difference would be a Wanna Get Away fare = non-transferable flight credit and Wanna Get Away Plus = transferable credit.

If you book with LUV vouchers and then cancel that reservation, the $ becomes flight credit and those do not expire.

Book it far out and change it when you have a flight you need.
