I Forgot To Add My Frequent Flyer Number, Can I Still Earn Miles?

Posted by Nathan on January 4, 2024 at 9:41 am

I flew American Airlines last year (like 15 flights) and didn’t link them to my AAdvantage number (yeah I’m a newbie to the miles world).

I didn’t store the 13-digit ticket number but I have the record locator in my email.

Is there a way to claim those AA miles retroactively or is there a way to add frequent flyer number after flight via the old record locator?

The ticket number is usually on your credit card statement.

With the ticket number, you can go and request retroactive credit for miles flown.

Almost all airlines allow this, the only rule is that you have to have had a frequent flyer account BEFORE you fly.

You can’t make an account after you fly and claim the miles.

As long as you have the Advantage number, you can retroactively claim for 12 months.

You WILL need the full ticket number, not record locator.

You can find these in your email confirmations.

You can retroactively claim AA miles but the maximum period is a year I believe.
