Will AMEX Clawback Points If I Return Item?
I purchased some items for around $1500.
That item happened to be the last expense that got me Amex Green sign up bonus.
Now I realize the item is not a good fit and would like to return it.
Would the sign up bonus get clawed back by Amex?

Can you opt for store credit?

Depending on the item and who you bought it from you could ask for them to return in the form of store credit or on a giftcard.
That would prevent the money from going back to the Amex card and would not risk a clawback.

Ask for store credit or gift card from merchant.
Don’t play games with AmEx.

If you put another $1,500 or more spend on the card in the same billing cycle you return the product you should be fine.
As long as you don’t leave any credit in the billing cycle.

Can’t you tell them that you no longer have that account and that you would like them to use another one?
It happens that people close the account for any reason and then they have to get a refund for something…
