• Is 1 Hour Enough Time To Connect At Reykjavik RKV Airport?

Posted by Leonard on February 2, 2024 at 11:14 am

What is the minimum connecting time at Reykjavik RKV airport in Iceland?

Is a 1 hour connection in RKV enough time to make our connecting flight or should I try to get a longer layover in RKV?

RKV is in downtown Reykjavik and is not the same as the larger Keflavík airport KEF that most people are familiar with.

The route is GVA-RKV-RDU and it is all a single ticket.

Assuming your flight is on time that’s perfectly doable.

Immigration / Customs at Keflavik airport is very efficient.

Last time I got through within 15 minutes.

And they don’t usually operate the huge jumbo jets so even if a few planes land at the same time there are not that many people to get through.

    We’ve done that layover.

    It is very doable!

RKV is a small airport and usually has quick processing.

One hour should be plenty if this is a single ticket.

Since RKV is a smaller airport, a 1-hour connection should be okay if your incoming flight is on time and you don’t have to go through customs or immigration.

However, it’s always safer to have a longer layover, especially if you’re worried about potential delays or if you want some buffer time to explore the airport or grab a snack.

If possible, aim for a 2-hour layover to be on the safe side.
