I was just there for New Year and stayed at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and drank the water from the tap and it was fine.

Even at restaurants, we drank tap water and had no issues.

That Grayl water purifying bottle though is super cool.

I am going to get one for when I go to Thailand.

Drinking tap water in Hong Kong is not a problem, as I experienced during my previous visit.

The only situation where I would avoid it is if I were staying for a long time in an old or poorly maintained hotel or building that has not been updated for over two decades.

Hong Kong tap water is usually safe, but older buildings can have iffy pipes.

If your hotel’s modern, go for it, but boil for taste or use a handy reusable bottle and city refill stations.

Bringing a purifier is never overkill, but consider packing space!
