It’s not a good enough deal to transfer points unless you were already planning to transfer points there.

The flexibility lost by transferring to one particular airline vs. leaving the points with Amex until you have a particular redemption you want to use them for is not worth the 10% extra miles.

Even the 25% or so bonuses that they have to Virgin or Flying Blue sometimes often aren’t normally worth preemptively transferring points.

Of course, the bonuses are great when you actually do have a need to transfer the points to that airline, though!

    No, wait for better!

    10% is nothing.

Generally speaking, if you have to ask if a transfer bonus is a good deal, then you shouldn’t be speculatively transferring points.

All transferable points are most valuable when they stay as transferable points, as that’s when they have the most potential.

As soon as you transfer to a partner, you are doing so at the opportunity cost of every other transfer partner.

You’ve just severely limited your redemption options.

Keep your points transferable until you have a specific redemption you want to transfer for.

Unless you are a points and miles expert who is extremely experienced in a particular currency that you regularly use for redemptions, do not ever speculatively transfer points just based on a bonus.
