Is Turo Car Rentals Legit?
Posted by Keagan on November 1, 2023 at 4:12 pmHas anyone used Turo car rentals?
I don’t know anyone who has personally used it but heard that Turo is Airbnb for cars.
It looks way cheaper than renting a car from Hertz.
Any Turo reviews?
I just want to make sure Turo is legit and not a scam.
My biggest question is how does car insurance work with Turo?
I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card that has the Primary CDW car insurance on it.
Does the Chase Sapphire Reserve car insurance work with Turo?

We also use Turo, given all the issues with Hertz.
Used Turo twice in Hawaii, excellent experience.
AMICA covers Turo but we also took Turo insurance for the simplicity.

Credit card insurance DOES NOT cover Turo but your normal personal car insurance might but you should call your agent and ask them just to be sure.

We have used them a few times.
One of them requested proof of coverage when we didn’t choose their insurance.
We got a letter from our insurance agent stating it covers rentals.
Our credit card we always use for travel covers it as well so we chose to opt out of their coverage.

There is another competitor to Turo called GetAround.
I used that in Portland when we drove to the national parks.
It is less well known, so rates tend to be cheaper than Turo.

I have used Turo once in Hawaii.
There are 3 different levels of insurance, and I think I added the middle just to be safe.
My personal car insurance covers rentals as well, but I’d rather have extra just in case.
The overall rental for one week was about half of a traditional rental agency.

I love it!
Just make sure you always read reviews on the car!
I just read reviews and make sure the owner of the vehicle has rented it out plenty of times and have never had any issues.
I too use the cheapest insurance option for like 12$ a day.

I love Turo, been using them for about 1 1/2 years since rental car rates skyrocketed.
I checked with my insurance agent and was told that I’m covered with a Turo rental.

I use Turo all the time.
Credit card rental car insurance doesn’t cover it though, so I just add on the minimum coverage for like $10/day.

We have used Turo a few times.
The owner reviews are really important.
There was one rental that was a little difficult.
We went to pick up the car and there was no T mobile cell phone service where the pickup place was, so we can’t upload the pictures of the condition of the car at pick up.
Thankfully it was within hours when someone was there (it was a company) and they had wifi to upload it, but it was still a much longer process than expected.
We added insurance through Turo.

Turo is like Airbnb for cars.
It is cheaper but if something goes wrong, then they say “we are just a platform”.
Tried to use them once and the guy canceled on me two days before pickup.
Had to spend nearly twice as much on an Enterprise rental last minute.
Not planning to try them again.
