Here is my recent data point for getting a retention offer for my AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business Credit Card.
The first time I requested a retention offer, I got nothing, so I hung up and called again in 3 days.
The second time got 10,000 Marriott points for a $2K spend over 3 months.
Tried a third time, and got the same offer.
I accepted the offer.
