I spent 7 days in Edinburgh alone!

It is such an amazing place.

If you go to Edinburgh, make sure you do the Harry Potter walking tour.

    Are you renting a car?

    Edinburgh

Royal Mile end to end, Edinburgh Castle is one of my favorites and Holyrood Palace is amazing too!

In between there are tons of great shops, restaurants, and a couple of free museums.

I love the People’s Story Museum.

Virgin Hotel Edinburgh is one of my favorite hotels!

The Hilton Edinburgh Carlton is great too.

They’ve been doing construction for ages though right in front of it which is a bit annoying if you need a taxi.

I might be a little biased because I got married here but…I think Craigmillar Castle is a magical place right outside of Edinburgh.

More castles: Linlithgow, Doune, Stirling, St Andrews, Blackness Castle.

All of the villages of Fife.

I lived in Dunfermline for a few months, it’s a super random little town but I loved it!

The Dunfermline Abbey is a wonderful piece of history and the park nearby too!

If you are renting a car – The Traiquair House is pretty neat!

It’s the oldest inhabited house in Scotland.

    Plus there’s a fun maze & brewery.

I can keep going into the highlands too…

Fishing villages on Fife Coast is a nice way to spend a day.

    We loved everything in Edinburgh.

The castle, Greyfriars Kirkyard, Royal Mile.

If you’re driving along the East Coast stop at Dunnottar Castle.

Gorgeous views especially on a sunny day and when we went there weren’t many people.

I highly recommend Avrils Travels for a guide of Inverness.

She is amazing and is a fantastic storyteller.

She brought all the history alive!!

Be sure to go to Stirling Castle, Old Town Stirling, Wallace Monument, Battle of Bannockburn site.

    Fewer tourists than Edinburgh.

Stop in small towns for pub lunches.

    When are you going?

The Edinburgh Tattoo is pretty amazing

    Go to the dress rehearsal.

The tickets are much cheaper and the show is just as good.

I highly recommend visiting the Highlands near Skye!

The Kinlochmoidart Estate is beautiful if you like the countryside (and the surrounding area) and I know the people who help run it.
