Review: JAL First Class Check In Lounge At Haneda (HND)
Just flew JAL First Class from HND-LHR and had an opportunity to check out the new Japan Airways First Class Check-In at Haneda Airport.
We got a steal at just 90,000 AA miles for the 15-hour Japan Air First Class flight.
The First Class Check-In area at Haneda is located just past the normal JAL check-in counter.
We didn’t know where it was so we just went to the First Class Counter and the JAL representative walked us to the dedicated First Class check-in area.
They told us this First Class check-in entrance literally opened yesterday so this might be the first “review” of this new facility.
Once we walked into the First Class check-in area, there were at least 8 people who were standing by to take our passports and checked luggage.
On our carry-on luggage, they put special JAL First Class paper tags. I took the photo after flying so that is why it looks bent.
If I was Japan Airways, I would provide more permanent JAL First Class bag tags. That would be a nice souvenir and make passengers feel special.
After they took our luggage, they led us to the seating area which can hold probably 30 people, however we were the only ones there.
As you can see, the area was quite nice.
We sat around for 10 minutes in the seating area and I was most surprised that they didn’t offer us a drink or small snacks while we were waiting.
After they returned with our passports, they led us to the back door which opened to a private security line.
I didn’t take a picture of this for obvious reasons.
It took about 1 minute to clear security and then we joined the normal immigration line.
There was no priority line but thankfully Japan uses automated gates for departure immigration, so it was quite quick.
Once we cleared immigration, we went to the JAL First Class lounge which was super nice.
Inside the First Class lounge they had a sushi bar, on-demand dining, drinks, showers, etc.
I forgot to take photos inside but overall it was one of the nicest first class lounges I have been to.
Overall while the JAL First Class check-in is cool, I wouldn’t recommend going to HND just for the experience because it is really just a nice seating area that you wait in for a few minutes before continuing to immigration.
On the other hand, the JAL First Class Lounge and JAL First Class flight were both awesome, and I would highly recommend doing that if you are flying through Tokyo.
