Does Credit Card Travel Insurance Reimburse For Points?
I used Chase Ultimate Rewards points to cover the hotel costs.
I’m debating whether to get travel insurance for this trip.
If we have to cancel, does the credit card travel insurance reimburse the points I used?
Our flights are with Southwest, so they’re easy to cancel or change, but I’m concerned about the hotel.

You definitely need medical coverage, so I would recommend getting travel insurance.

Travel insurance won’t earn you rewards or refund the cash equivalent of a booking made with rewards points.
However, it typically covers any fees associated with canceling such a booking.
Therefore, if the terms indicate a one-night fee for cancellation, that’s what you would claim for reimbursement.

I wouldn’t suggest going with Allianz.
Dealing with them has been a total nightmare for me when it comes to our trip interruption.
I had a medical emergency on a recent trip, and it feels like they’re doing everything possible to avoid paying up.
