What Are Best Travel Sized Toiletries For Women?
Posted by Rosalia on January 1, 2024 at 7:56 amHello travel dudettes, can I get an opinion or recommendations for best travel size toiletries?
Specifically, what are your recommendations for best travel sized bar shampoo and conditioner for women?
I’ve never tried them before and I’d love a conditioner that works well and makes your hair soft.
I’ll be using them as part of our attempt to pack for a two weeker with carry-on only to London and Paris next Fall.
Any other suggestions on women toiletries or space saving travel gear and accessories would be welcome also.

I really like Nolé.
They’ve been amazing in my hair and the conditioner works really well on the days I don’t shampoo.
I used to use Ethique but the conditioner felt like it only worked well when using the shampoo as well, even the curly hair ones.
Nolé has been VERY good.
They have sample sets you can try.
As for containers, I’ve found I’m not a fan of the silicon ones because they already weigh quite a bit when empty.
I use ones that are vacuum pump style that are reusable, and also the bag style ones that pack flat and light once empty.
I’ve made an Amazon travel suggestion list of all the stuff I use and love for travel.
You can check out a ton of different things on there.
There are multiple different categories of items because they might be just different enough to work better for what you need.
I’ve used different things over the years and have changed and adapted what I use and how I pack.

List of what I usually take for a 2 week carry on only trip:
- Ethique bar shampoo
- Liquid travel size leave-in conditioner (ur fave brand) and just use what is supplied at the accommodation
- Bar face/body soap (I like CeraVe)
- Travel size skincare….if going for less than 1.5 weeks I just bring .5 ounce Cetaphil face wash and spot treatment for acne and SPF/face lotion (if going longer, face wash, eye creme, toner, moisturizer)
- Tru Earth eco laundry strips
- Venus makes a travel size razor
- Solid deodorant (any brand)
- Powder makeup
- Clinique travel size mascara
- Travel size kaja bento eyeshadow
- Cerave makeup remover wipes
- Cetaphil body wipes
For the plane…
Individual shower wipes and individually packed makeup remover
Hope that helps!

If you are doing carry on only, I recommend getting some compression packing cubes.
They are amazing.
Save a ton of space in your bag.

Seconding the recommendation for Lush shampoo/conditioner bars!
I also use Dr Bronners travel size soap that can be used as body wash or to do laundry in the sink.
Get the Matador leak proof dry-through cases for all the soap bars – they’re great!
My other recommendation for 2 weeks in a carry-on is to air out the clothes you wear each day (just lay them on the back of a chair).
It makes them much less likely to smell and able to be re-worn without washing.

If you like the stuff you use at home, just buy TSA Approved travel bottles and fill them and bring them.
It is way cheaper than buying individual travel-sized toiletries.
-
Ethique is my preferred bar shampoo/conditioner.
I use their travel sizes or cut down full size bars.
I also take Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap bar for body, emergency laundry, etc. but I don’t love the way it works for my hair.
Decant all toiletries for just the amount you need (plus a day or two extra) and leave unnecessary items at home.
We travel backpack only and my biggest tip for saving space is to be really honest with yourself about what you NEED versus what you want to take.
Start with all the need items and then you’ll know how much space you have left for wants.
I also tend to pack a couple days early so I let my packing list simmer in my brain.
Then I check the weather again right before we leave and make any adjustments for forecast or anything I’ve been questioning.
Have a great time!

For toiletries, shops like Boots or DM in the UK will have travel size options as well, so consider either getting your toiletries there or a mid-trip replenish rather than a 2 week supply in your luggage.
(Depending on what you’re doing on your trip I realize this may or may not be helpful/possible.)
-
If you have the ability, build in a free afternoon mid-way through your trip and find a local laundromat (unless your accommodation has self-wash facilities.)
That way you can pack for a week and then re-wear your clothes.
If there’s no laundromat I sometimes use a laundry bar and do a few things every other day in the sink and hang to dry.
You can use “Sink Suds” if you’re doing multiple pieces in the sink.
Or a laundry bar like Ethique.
Just cut off a small amount to take with you.
(I find the bar easier if I’m only doing a couple of pieces.)

I like the travel sized shampoo and conditioner bars from Viori.
Very high quality and easy to travel with.

Buy several types on Amazon and try them before you leave.
Then mix and match until you find what works.

I’ve been using The Earthling Co. shampoo and conditioner.
I have long thick hair (mid-back length which I just cut it to last week) which is also naturally curly/wavy.
No complaints about using these bars.
I also tend to wash my hair once or twice per week unless we are going out or in the summer when activities suggest otherwise – helps to work from home and my biggest regular activity is taking care of horses who don’t care if I don’t wash my hair 😂
No issues there either.
Takes some time to build up to not washing daily if that’s been your norm so not something to start while traveling but once there it definitely helps you take less stuff.
Of course I also don’t use product in my hair very often so that helps too.
I have an exfoliating mitt which I use for bathing vs a poofy loofa or something else thicker.

I’m a big fan of Lush bar shampoos.
I also use their conditioner bars but I know not everyone likes them.
Honestly though my best recommendation to you is to just buy a bottle when you land and then use it during your trip.
