The Cotopaxi Allpa is a winner.

It definitely comes with a hip belt and chest strap, plus a removable shoulder strap.

    You can choose between sizes – there’s a 35-liter and a 42-liter option.

Inside, it’s designed like a real suitcase with zippered compartments that fold open neatly.

We own the 42-liter version and took it on a Europe trip – loved it!

It’s going to be our main bag for shorter trips for the kid and my big carry-on internationally, alongside my 20-liter backpack.

If you have an REI nearby, check if they have the smaller one in store so you can try it on.

I’ve got the 31-liter PRVKE, and I’m a big fan of it.

I don’t use it for camera gear, though!

Right now, I’m using that along with an Away carry on for my year long trip.

Last fall, I brought the Cotopaxi Allpa along on a three-week trip, and it performed flawlessly.

When not overstuffed, it easily fits under the seat in front of me on domestic flights, such as Southwest.

The only downside to this bag is the absence of a water bottle pocket.
