• What’s Best Way To Travel From Milan To Nice?

Posted by Hudson on April 1, 2024 at 7:37 pm

    Hey everyone!

I’ll be traveling to Europe next month and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get from Milan to Nice, or around Nice and Marseille.

I assume the train would be ideal, but I’m unsure how to book it.

One leg of the journey is with Intercity, and the other with SNCF.

Do I need to purchase two separate train tickets?

I’m not very familiar with train travel, and especially not European train travel!

Alternatively, I’m considering renting a car, but I’m uncertain about the road conditions and traffic.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

    I recommend traveling by train.

I learned how to book train tickets by visiting The Man in Seat 61.

He’s the ultimate resource for train travel worldwide.

Train travel across Europe is excellent, often faster, and more cost-effective compared to renting a car.

If you are going 1 way, then the train is a better option.

It is super easy to use.

I recommend using Trainline, it will search all the providers and give you one unified ticket and it is often cheaper than buying from SNCF or whoever.

Car rentals are also relatively cheap at like 30-50 euros a day.

I drove from Barcelona to Marseille and the roads are like normal US roads.

    Parking was pretty easy too.

A car gives you more flexibility to stop in small towns but doesn’t make sense if you are only going one way.
