I’m a big fan of Sony Linkbuds S

    No one ever mentions these.

Everyone always talks about Bose and the other, more expensive Sony options.

I have used, tried, and hated almost every other option.

I personally like to pack light and these fit the bill: excellent noise cancellation, small form factor, VERY comfortable, great price point, multi-purpose (I jog with them), and no sweaty ears (my biggest issue with the big headphone types).

Most important advice: just get what you like and meets your needs.

SONY MX4 is what I use & they work phenomenally.

My partner uses Bang & Olufsen Beoplay HX (pricy, yes. But absolutely worth the price tag)

The big cups over your ear will provide the best noise cancelling and isolation, but also be the largest for travel.

I got the Sony WH 900 series from Costco about five years ago and never really saw a need to upgrade it.

For slightly more price and slightly lower reviews / ratings, Bose has a similar model that a lot of people like.

I will add that the new Pixel Buds Pro have extraordinarily good noise canceling if you use the app to get a good fit first, and they’re much more portable for travel.

After trying a bunch of different brands over the years, I think AirPods Pro 2nd Gen are the best option for most people ($189 on Amazon).

In my opinion, they are slightly better at noise cancellation than my Bose QC 35 II (I haven’t tried 700/QC45/XM5s).

I find AirPods a bit easier to sleep with them on than other over-ear headphones.

The downside is they won’t last a whole long haul flight.

Having had both Bose and Sony over-the-ear full headphones, and at the height of work travel doing 30-35 weekly roundtrip flights a year, I ended up going with my Airpod Pro earbuds because of the size and convenience.

Full headsets always gave better noise cancellation, but the increased convenience and agility of having the buds in my pocket nearly all the time won out in the end.

Whatever you get, just pair them with the AirFly dongle so you can connect your Bluetooth headphones to the inflight entertainment system.

For years it was my Bose QuietComfort 35 II.

I bought Sony XM4 & XM5 but always ended up back using the QC’s, then I bought the Bowers & Wilkins and the active noise canceling was a joke and the headphones were too tight.

Last year I bought the Bose QC Ultra’s and love them.

I have given the QC 35 II’s to my wife as they are still after probably almost a decade still kicking strong.

Side note: Apple AirPods Pro are my alternates as I don’t like moving around with the cans on my head. They speak for themselves.

I refuse to use anything with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) due to the audio artifacts introduced.

I much prefer in-ear monitors that produce good isolation by being inserted in the ear.

My go-to’s are Shure SE425 due to their fairly flat frequency response but any professional in-ear monitor will do the trick.

I pair them with TW2 true wireless adapters (not as good as wired but it’s as good as Bluetooth can do).

I’m also looking for a good noise-canceling headphone.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H8i is at the top of my list.

The nice thing is if you order from Amazon, you can try them out for 30 days and see if you like them.

Please report back on how you like them if you get them!

Thanks for the tip on Amazon, @Raj-PlanMoreTripsFounder.

I have not availed myself of that 30-day trial.

I am happy with my past purchases on Amazon, even my purchase of a refurbished smartphone.

I will report back once I get the noise-canceling headphones.

I love my Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II in-ear noise cancelling headphones.

They are smaller to carry, but don’t block as much noise.

I can’t stand any of the over-ear ones because my ears always end up hurting.

I have used both the Sony and Bose and find the Bose Quiet Comfort has the better noise canceling for air travel.

AirPods Max if you can afford it.

I used to have Bose QC overhead and the noise canceling on AirPods Max is on a completely different level.
