Like others have said, you could easily spend the time in Milan.
I’ve been there 2x and I think it’s underrated.
In addition to the Last Supper, the Duomo, and La Scala, Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) is interesting.
I second the Starbucks (if only to see it – it is pretty impressive and in a beautiful building), and you should make sure to try Milanese risotto and aperitivo one evening (happy hour with free snacks – a big part of Milanese culture).
If you really want to get out of town, I agree with someone else’s comment that the town of Como is not great, but there’s a town up on the hill above Como that’s pretty called Brunate.
Take a funicular up for a stroll around – and the ferry to Bellagio and Varenna from Como is easy.
In my opinion, Varenna is smaller but prettier.
