For me, it really depends on how long I want to fly.
I live on the North West Coast of the US so I tend to stick to Cabo or Puerto Vallarta because I can leave at 6 am & be at the hotel in Mexico in the early afternoon.
I had a great experience at the RIU in Cabo San Lucas pre-pandemic and am going to the RIU Vallarta this June.
They are pretty inexpensive & provide a good level of service.
We have stayed at the mid-level ones because I don’t really need luxury.
