You can use a debit card if you don’t have a credit card with a pin.
Subway tickets are sold from kiosks, you can’t use them without a pin.

Do you only have American Airlines miles?
If not, I booked through Qatar Airways directly and found plenty of saver space from Doha.
You can transfer Membership Rewards points to Qatar, and the transfer process is pretty quick.

I regularly freeze and unfreeze my credit report.
I keep all three credit reports frozen until the day I’m applying for a new credit card.
Once the card is approved, I freeze them all again.

You can do it online via the Chinese embassy, but you need to pick a US consulate location.
I personally went to the Chinese embassy in Berlin but it took almost 2 weeks.
If you are only going for a few days and transiting, China has visa free travel option but you are limited to only a few days.

The travel protections on the Explorer card are the same as Chase Sapphire Preferred.
You’re giving up a little bit compared to Chase Sapphire Reserve, but not much.

I usually use the hotels at T4, as already mentioned as the transfer around the airport is free.
There are also standard buses that serve T2/3 which is the transit terminal, they will take you around the airport and connect to most hotels.
You’ve also got your standard Uber etc and the Hoppa bus which I find expensive, especially as you’ll probably need to get back to the airport for onward travel.

Just returned from staying at the Kimpton de Witt.
Great property with wonderful staff in a good location.
They accommodated late checkout.
They have a nice social hour and their restaurant & room service were all great.
I don’t have the highest tier status either for complimentary breakfast but when I checked in, I used Kimpton’s current secret password and they extended their free breakfast buffet + menu offerings to our family of four!

If you have Chase Ultimate Rewards or AMEX Membership Rewards, you could transfer to Flying Blue.
There is no way to combine Delta and Flying Blue.

Get away from LAX – more options.
Just avoid Downtown LA because that area is bad.
I like Hotel Figueroa but there isn’t much for walking around near it.
I’m local so when I went it was just to be there and eat there.
