The 15,000 points you get each year should easily give you enough value to make the fee worthwhile, and you can also call to negotiate a retention offer.

My husband and I really enjoy Helsinki and have visited four times in the last 7-8 years.
We usually stay at the Hotel Indigo.
This past April, we used some Choice points to stay at the Hotel F6.
The F6 is a bit closer to the harbor, train station, and central shopping area.
Plus, they offer a fantastic breakfast included in the stay (Choice in Europe is great for this).

Husband used it to find Polaris round trip from SFO to PPT last month.

I canceled without any problems using the iOS app, but that was before the devaluation on February 15th.
I was charged a $70 cancellation fee, and the miles were refunded right away.
However, it took a few days for the taxes to show up on my card.
If you’re still having issues, use their feedback form and provide as much detail as possible.
I don’t usually like using feedback forms, but they’ve always worked for me.

Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best choice.
They are the primary option for rental cars, making it much easier to get paid.

As long as no unexpected events occur on your travel day, you should be fine.
I regularly fly into Atlanta International Airport with 20-30 minute layovers, and airlines typically provide a buffer for such situations.
The one time my luggage didn’t arrive with me, Delta resolved the issue.
Therefore, I believe you’ll be alright.
Just remember there won’t be time for lounging or extended bathroom breaks, but it’s definitely manageable.

The last time I checked, the cost for Qatar Airways business class seat selection fee was approximately $100 per seat.

My refund was the same day.
But the process of canceling was way harder than it should be.
They couldn’t charge my credit card for the cancelation every day for 3 days.
When it finally “worked,” it didn’t.
The payment didn’t go through – I found out by calling Iberia and asking for the status of the cancellation.
Finally, someone was able to charge me the cancellation fee, they asked me to check if it showed up on my credit card as a pending charge while on the phone with me.
Once that was done, the refund came at the end of the day on the same day, both points and taxes/fees.

Do you already have a Sapphire?
If you do it doesn’t matter a whole lot.
Just don’t get the Premier.
If you don’t have a Sapphire, you’ll want to start with the Ink Preferred since it connects you to the Ultimate Rewards program.

I had the exact same issue for Main Cabin Extra.
Technically AA says seat selections are non-refundable but if you go onto AA’s site and submit a refund, it should process.
I was able to get 2 seats refunded, I just had to enter the ticket number.
It took about 24 hours.

If you like art, the Musee D’Orsay is amazing.
I like it even better than the Louvre, which is kind of overwhelming.
Maybe a cruise along the Seine, and do some walking in the city.
Montmartre is nice as well as the Jewish quarter.
You can use public transportation and walk, maybe Uber to/from the airport.
See if you can find a hotel bookable on points with 2 beds.

I am somewhat flexible with my dates +/- 4 days on either end and even departure airports and destination airport (though I eventually need to end up in Chiang Mai), but still was having no luck.
