I took that trip pre-pandemic and will never take Kenya Airlines again.

Having had both Bose and Sony over-the-ear full headphones, and at the height of work travel doing 30-35 weekly roundtrip flights a year, I ended up going with my Airpod Pro earbuds because of the size and convenience.
Full headsets always gave better noise cancellation, but the increased convenience and agility of having the buds in my pocket nearly all the time won out in the end.

I would recommend Air Train -> LIRR (Jamaica) -> NJT (Penn Station) -> Air Train (Newark Airport).
If it’s late at night, I would research if there are direct busses which might be cheaper with fewer transfers and less hassle.
The above would cost around $35 but I would highly discourage trying to go cheaper by using the bus or subway.
It will take longer than you ever imagined, or than Google Maps tells you.
The LIRR portion is a little cheaper when you select “city ticket” (which used to be only available on weekends, but seems to be available throughout the week now).

If you refer someone who already has a CapitalOne card, then typically Capital One does not give you a referral bonus.
Pretty stupid rule.

None of them are as accurate as doing your own searches.
They often leave out major rewards flights and often show flights that are not available.

Never had that happen before.

As others have said, no visa needed for Americans.
However, they do technically require proof of onward travel (I’ve probably been there more than 10 times and never been asked, though), and you also need to ensure you have at least 6 months remaining on your passport.

You didn’t hear this from me, but if you buy something on a credit card and get the points, you can then return it and request the refund go back on a different card.
At least when I return things at Costco I’m given this option, even though I don’t bother to take it.

Mine expired this coming January.
I renewed it this summer the whole process start to finish took 2 months.
I was able to do a virtual appointment.

Looks like the price for Necker Island has once again gone up.
No longer points + cash, but now requires 2,000,000 Virgin Points for 7 night stay.
I had transferred points from Bilt and was hoping to book 2024, but will have to use Virgin points for other purposes.
I knew this was speculative and there are lots of uses for Virgin points, but definitely disappointed.

You do get unlimited visits with the Ritz card’s Priority Pass card.
The Amex Plat’s Priority Pass card gets 1 free, but not an additional one since you’d be entering with the Ritz Priority Pass.
Priority Pass cards from Authorized User accounts have the corresponding sponsor card’s benefits.
