    PointsYeah is awesome.

I like it enough to upgrade to the paid version, but even the free one is pretty stellar!

It is a “Your Mileage May Vary” situation.

You maybe able to upgrade with cash depending on availability but it is far from a guarantee.

If it is an award ticket, you can keep searching until take off to find a business class option.

The best advice is to set up Apple Pay or Google Android Pay on your phone then you can tap everywhere and that overrides any need for a PIN or having to sign a receipt.

The only time I have ever had to enter a PIN was at Amsterdam Airport for the train tickets.

I think I just used my Charles Schwab debit card, but now they probably allow Tap To Pay, so no need for PIN.

I also think Capital One lets you add a PIN online.

  • I just booked a LifeMiles ticket and had the same issue.

Make sure every box is filled in.

Usually, there is a box that says something like credit card pin code.

The US credit cards don’t have a PIN, so you can just enter anything in the box and it should work.

I put 0000 and it worked and the Complete Reservation box turned green so I could click on it.

The LifeMiles website is notoriously bad.

I’ve used Ultimate Rewards points with the Chase travel portal to rent cars at 1.5 cents per point since I have Chase Sapphire Reserve.

I thought it was an okay deal.

Yes, as long as your paid the award taxes with the card, it is covered.

You file the claim the same way you would for a revenue ticket.

I have done it before and had no issues that it was an award booking.

In my experience, canceling a ticket is easy if there haven’t been any changes, but it’s a real hassle if something has changed, as in your case.

It usually goes like this: You call, and they tell you to go to or email a ticket office.

You email the ticket office that seems most relevant, but you get no reply.

Then, you email all the ticket offices and hope someone responds.

You repeat this process every few days until someone finally replies.

April 13, 2024 at 6:23 am in reply to: Do Airlines Lie About Weather Delays To Avoid Compensation?

    Yes and no.

Weather is often given as a reason for flight delays, and it’s usually not questioned.

However, that doesn’t mean weather wasn’t actually the cause.

Even if weather isn’t the reason, there are few compensation options in the US, aside from being bumped from a flight.

Weather can impact a flight that starts at 7:00 AM on the West Coast, even if your flight on the East Coast isn’t until 7:00 PM.

You might check the local radar or the departure location and see no issues, but still think weather wasn’t the cause.

When severe weather hits, it can disrupt flights across the entire country.

Over the past 18 months, we’ve learned that the flight system is always close to breaking down.

    I’m a San Diego native.

What kind of activities are you interested in?

Whether it’s hitting the beach, visiting the zoo, exploring SeaWorld, or checking out Legoland, most major attractions are within a 15-minute drive from central or downtown locations (outside of peak traffic times).

A friend of mine, who used to live here and recently visited with her family, stayed at the Hyatt Mission Bay.

It’s a family-friendly spot with water slides in the pool and offers convenient access to SeaWorld and the beach/bay.

Plus, it’s close to several freeways, making it a quick drive to attractions like the Zoo, Balboa Park, downtown, and it’s near the airport.

Another option is the Manchester, a lovely hotel located on the bay side of downtown San Diego.

It boasts stunning views and is adjacent to Seaport Village.

Being in Downtown/Gaslamp, it’s also within walking distance of the convention center, Petco Park (home of baseball), The Shell outdoor amphitheater, and a plethora of bars and restaurants.

It’s conveniently located near the airport and the trolley line. If you have more questions, feel free to ask!

Four Seasons, unlike Ritz Carlton, is not part of any chain with lower-cost options.

I have worked for them and stayed in them (after working there I realized why it costs more, they really do a better job at most things than other hotels) and there’s no magic.

Although they are part of the Amex Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts so you can sometimes get an upgrade or a property-specific amenity (usually a spa or food and beverage credit) if you book through the Amex portal.

But the portal prices are usually higher than booking direct.

The other option is to work for them, they offer great comp rooms for employees.

If I’m going somewhere that doesn’t have Marriott, Chase usually has a lot of good cheap point options through their portal for a little boutique type hotels.

Amex has the same ones, but it costs a lot more points almost always.

Just stayed at Secrets Maroma in Playa Del Carmen (south of Cancun 30-40 min) and the beach was 10/10.

Nice water, the sand was soft, and the best service ever.

Used Ultimate Rewards and transferred to Hyatt and it’s adults only.

35k per night, rates were going $900-1000 per night for 2 people when we went.

Plus got upgraded to ocean view with Explorist status.
