How do I extend Delta eCredit and keep it from expiring?
My Delta eCredit expire at the end of this year (2023), but I have no plans to fly by then.
How do I go about extending Delta credit?
Can I buy a new ticket for a trip about a year from now and then cancel it again before the flight?
Will Delta give ecredit extension with a new expiration date?

It depends on when the Delta eCredit was generated.
eCredits generated during the pandemic (before 1/12/22) can be used during 2023 for flights that are to occur during 2024.
Delta eCredits created after 1/12/22 do not have the same grace attached to them.
There is really no way to “work the system” to extend them.
If you book a flight with them and then later cancel that flight, after the eCredit expiration date, the eCredits are lost.
Best advice is to just take a trip!

Delta did extend the expiration a bit but it all just depends on when you booked the original ticket.

Unmatched travel flexibility: Delta extends ticket validity through year-end 2023
Effective Jan. 12, all existing eCredit holders will have an additional year of flexibility for rebooking and traveling. Customers will be able to rebook their ticket by December 31, 2023, for travel throughout 2024.

If this credit is from early 2020, they have been automatically extending them.
