• Can I Upgrade From Economy To First Class Using Hawaiian Miles?

Posted by Taryn on March 7, 2023 at 7:19 am

I’d like to fly from Honolulu to Boston on Hawaiian Airlines.

Economy tickets are 50K per person one way.

The first-class tickets are 130K per person one way.

The one-way cash price of economy is $335-$475 depending on fare class (main basic, main, main refundable).

The upgrade from a revenue fare from Hawaii to North America is listed as 25K-50K one way.

Does anyone know if there are restrictions/capacity controls on these upgrades?

And what main cabin fare is upgradeable?

The page does not specify, just that the ticket must be a revenue ticket.

Basically, if I book an economy ticket on a flight that has seats in first class, am I guaranteed the ability to upgrade for 25K-50K miles?

    Yes you can.

    Use Expert Flyer.

    A space is 25k upgrade.

If you see a bookable 130k it can be saver or flex.

I pay cash regular economy all the time then upgrade with points.

As long as there are seats available at the 130K price, then you call in and upgrade for 50K with a main fare.

I did this with a trip from ICN to HNL.

Hawaiian Airlines support is in the Philippines and here in Hawaii, their call center has a reputation for being not great so YMMV.
