Does Buying Southwest Points Count Towards Companion Pass Status?
Just to confirm – purchasing Southwest points do not count toward the companion pass?
I am short of Southwest companion pass points (already received personal card SUB earlier this year) and just making sure there isn’t an easy way to earn for next year.
We had it this year as a promo for signing up for the personal card.
I think I’ll try the posted companion pass strategy end of next year to try and get it for 2025.
May work out better since I have a kiddo turning 2 towards the end of 2024.

If you refer someone to southwest credit card, the referral points count toward companion pass!

Booking a hotel room through the Southwest portal also earns companion pass-enabled Southwest points.
I once had the extremely good fortune to find a hotel room that had a super bonus going on, meaning it earned serious bonus (extra) points. I managed to get just 1,000 points shy of a companion pass by booking 5 days.
That particular deal for that hotel room is gone, but stalking the hotel deals could theoretically yield similar results.

Business card SUB, and shopping portal are your 2 best chances I’d say if you wanted to push to earn this year in light of already doing the personal SUB.

FYI referral is 20k points, would that be enough? If not, opening a Southwest business card and completing the spend 6 this year will get you the companion pass for the rest of 2023 and the whole 2024.
Purchasing SW points won’t count towards CP.
