• How To Book Turkish Airways Award Using My Capital One Miles?

Posted by Claire on November 16, 2023 at 11:33 am

About to make my first major redemption by transferring Capital One miles to Turkish for the 45K business seat deal to Istanbul.

I am flying with my daughter and want to use 90K miles to pay for both.

Am I able to transfer all of the points to my Turkish account?

It looks like I can do that when I test it out, but I want to hear from the experts!

Any other advice on this redemption?

    EDIT:

I got the “you can only book for yourself” on my laptop, but when I use the app on my phone, it allows me to put 2 passengers and goes all the way to the screen that says total price 90,000 miles+ $433.40.

So I’m assuming if I transfer over the 90,000 miles it will process?

I’ve already added her as a companion in my account

    EDIT 2:

Just wanted to give you an update and let you know I just booked our tickets!

I transferred over the 90K to my account and was able to purchase both tickets.

I had already added her as a companion on my profile.

Like I said before I was unable to process on my laptop, but the app let me process the transaction.

Just thought others might benefit from this information as I know Turkish can be wonky!

    Don’t do a test transfer.

Sometimes it will trigger a fraud warning and when you try to transfer the large amount after doing a small test transfer it will get held up for a while..

And yes you can transfer all your points if you want

First call Turkish airlines and put the tickets on hold for 72 hours. Then you can transfer your miles and ‘buy’ your tickets with those miles

If you enter other passengers as your companions prior on your profile, you can book for yourself and others.

You can transfer the 90k to your TK account then call the TK phone center and they will book for you both (since this is your first time booking award tickets with TK directly and you are booking for 2)

FYI Turkish has really high taxes and fees (like $500 a ticket), so just be aware of that before transferring.

Your daughter will need her own TK account # in order for you to book her ticket
