• How To Use Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award (SUA) To Request Specific Suite?

Posted by Leanna on October 3, 2023 at 2:52 pm

If the hotel you are booking (cash rate) has multiple different kinds of suites I’m assuming that if I use an SUA I can specifically request any suite that is considered a “Standard Suite” versus something labeled a “Premium Suite”?

Meaning if multiple different types of standard suites are available for booking I can pick the type I want or does the hotel get to pick at the time of applying the award?

I’m assuming that if you apply an SUA to a standard suite the option to get a complimentary upgrade (via status) to a premium suite at the time of check-in is not something that is considered since the TAC specifically states upgrades are to standard suites or does that happen to people?

Generally, any suite you find labeled Standard Suite is in the SUA upgrade pool, yes. And a “premium” suite is not.

You are also correct that you CAN be further upgraded to a Premium Suite at check-in at the discretion of the hotel.

I’ve definitely had luck being in a Standard Suite where the Premium version had a balcony and asking politely for a balcony suite and getting it easily.

    All is property dependent.

And sometimes there are two or three standard suites that are vastly different so always look at the website rooms page and call while it’s up if they aren’t marked.
