• Why is there no AMEX Centurion or Priority Pass lounge at Chicago O’Hare (ORD)?

So my home airport is in Wichita KS. It’s very nice but small so there is always a connection. I typically fly United and always connect in Chicago, Denver, or Houston but mostly in Chicago.

I’ve noticed that there aren’t hardly any lounge options outside of the main airlines. There no AMEX, CAP ONE, or SAPPHIRE. Priority Pass only has one and it states can you can be turned away.

I have a United Explorer card but only get 2 lounge visits but fly out of Chicago more than that but not enough to warrant the United Club card.

You would think that O’Hare would have more options being one of the largest airports. What does everyone do? I’ve been wanting to get a premium card like the Platinum or Venture X but it doesn’t seem like the included lounge access will help me much…

Yeah ORD is a lounge desert. It’s pretty bad. For the last 5 years, I have tried maintaining or status matching to OneWorld or Star Alliance partners to have access on domestic and international flights. OneWorld sapphire or emerald is best to get AA Flagship Lounge access.

ORD is a hub for United and AA so more than likely they are somehow stopping it, if I had to guess. Crazy that the Chicago Midway is getting a Priority Pass lounge before ORD.

O’Hare is rebuilding one of its major terminals for both United and American and their global partners. I expect a lot of lounges there when it is done but they are way behind schedule.

The last I looked, United Club charged $59 for a single visit. That makes the United Club CC pay for itself after 9-10 visits. I think that’s more value for you than Sapphire or Amex Platinum.
