The Cotopaxi Allpa is a winner.

It definitely comes with a hip belt and chest strap, plus a removable shoulder strap.

    You can choose between sizes – there’s a 35-liter and a 42-liter option.

Inside, it’s designed like a real suitcase with zippered compartments that fold open neatly.

We own the 42-liter version and took it on a Europe trip – loved it!

It’s going to be our main bag for shorter trips for the kid and my big carry-on internationally, alongside my 20-liter backpack.

If you have an REI nearby, check if they have the smaller one in store so you can try it on.

It’s worth noting that Chase Ultimate Rewards offers a shopping platform, and you can transfer your points to Hyatt if you have certain Chase credit cards.

Another option to consider is Bilt Dining.

If there are participating restaurants in your area, you can earn 5 Bilt points for every dollar spent by linking your chosen dining card to your Bilt Wallet.

These Bilt points can also be transferred to Hyatt.

It’s like a dining portal, but with fewer options, though the restaurants are said to be better than those typically found on airline dining portals.

    Rentals are cheap in Dubai.

I got a mid-size sedan for $260 for a 14-day rental last year from Hertz.

    It included unlimited miles/kilometers.

You can find similar deals easily.

Two transfers of the same amount often get flagged as an error or fraud, with hindsight, you’d have been safer with a single transfer for the whole amount.

Aeroplan’s team will probably check it in the morning and resolve it.

I believe no and only Mastercard will cover if you pay a cash rate for at least 1 full day.

I have an AA flight to the Bahamas next month.

I believe the free checked bag is only for domestic flights.

    I used Budget Car Rental.

You definitely need an SUV if anywhere off the highway.

I have been to the Chase lounge a few times with 3 different Priority Pass cards.

They will not let you in with someone else’s Priority Pass since they scan your Priority Pass card and boarding pass.

A big difference is that with Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, you get guaranteed 4pm checkout (except at convention center properties and resorts) whereas Hilton offers no late checkout guarantee at all for top tier Diamond.

Hyatt is definitely the best top tier elite program, but not very useful if there aren’t Hyatts where you go )

If it were my travels, I would rebook with the longer layover.

I don’t want to be trying to scramble in an international airport.

October 19, 2023 at 2:18 pm in reply to: Why Isn’t AA Award Flight Showing On AA Website?

    (1) Results on Seats.Aero are cached, not live.

The airline sites are scrapped for award availability once or twice a day so someone else could have grabbed availability before the results are updated.

It is quite common that the results are 100% accurate.

    (2) Sometimes airlines make awards available to one partner but not another

You probably won’t know for sure until you check-in.

Hope you have a long enough layover not to be driven crazy.

Strongly recommend getting Airtags and booking your tickets on a credit card that has lost baggage protection.

You’ll want to look at American Express cards.

This is most reliable for existing Amex cardholders.

Be sure to save the info if/when offered after approval as you can’t get it on demand.

Which cards do you currently have?

    What is your 5/24 status?

How much spending can you put on it for the sign up bonus in a 3 month period?

What categories do you mostly spend on day-to-day?

Any wants/needs from the card aside from an instant number?

    Annual fee tolerance?
