We are doing this too this summer and have done this through CDG many times before without issue.
It should be fine, but make sure you’re ok with a backup plan (being rebooked on a later flight) in case of a delay and missed connection

No, you can’t cancel award tickets on Air France / KLM / FLying Blue for free.
It costs about 55 USD (50€).

I had a lovely flight in ITA Airways' Airbus A350-900 business class, flying from Miami to Rome. Here's what made this a pleasant experience.

Your southwest points live in your airline account, so they would not be impacted by closing the card.

Hopefully, you have Global Entry, so you don’t have to clear customs and immigration.
United Domestic flies into Terminal 3 (concourse F).
The international terminal is next door and contains concourses G and A.
Concourses F and G are actually connected airside so if you’re going between those two it’s dead simple.
If you’re United the whole way it will quite likely be G – that’s where the Polaris Lounge is.
If you are leaving out of A you will have to leave security and go through again at that concourse.

Sounds like it is totally worth it to get the better routing.
This is my first year in the AA program.
I’m currently Platinum and should make Platinum Pro soon.
Other than accelerated miles accumulation, I don’t find much benefit to Platinum.
Would putting the $3k spend on a new card help you toward a great SUB?
