At 18 immediately get a Discover Student card.

Also at 18 sign up for a bank account at Chase.

Wait 6 months and try to sign up for a Chase card.

If declined, sign up for a Citi Preferred or Amex Green card.

If you want to add in a Business card I would try with Chase but you will need to open a Business Checking account.

After another 3 months sign up for Amex Preferred card orr Chase card no fee card if you can.

Then every 3 to 6 months sign up for whatever card you can.

I had IHG Diamond and stayed at Intercontinental San Francisco with 3 people and they gave us breakfast for two every day.

We had to pay for the 3rd person.

Post-COVID many of the hotels that are managed by a 3rd party have cut corners on every benefit imaginable, so the GM might just be saying stuff that is not actually official IHG policy.

Amex Plastiq issues are fixed but it can still only pay certain types of bills and rent isn’t one of them.

I believe you can call them and pay to extend the miles one time.

It costs 1,200 miles or $12 per 10,000 miles.

This gives you a 6-month or 12-month extension.

  • On KLM, they typically will allow you to bid on upgrades.

I had a KLM economy ticket for ORD-AMS that I booked on miles and when I checked in, there was an option to bid on a paid upgrade to business.

It was only $500 I think.

    But your mileage may vary.

Depends on the route, airline, etc.

Try not to get your tickets on third party sites, as Renfe won’t favor them if there is a change, delay or cancellation.

Renfe will at least work with you.

We missed a train in Spain two times costing our family 1k dollars.

Arrive early, they scan your bags like at an airport.

This happened to me on an international flight on KLM.

They weighed my carry-on and made me check it.
