You can transfer Capital One points or miles to Choice Hotels, but you cannot transfer Choice Hotel Points to Capital One.
Hotel points do not transfer to banks.
You can transfer Choice points to around 11 different airlines, but the conversion rates are very poor, so it is not recommended unless you have a special reason.
With Choice Privileges transfers, the conversion rate can be as bad as 5:1 and at best 2.5:1 with some international transfers.

I just use Pay Yourself Back and book on my own to also earn points and/or meet a SUB.
If you get a great cruise deal, yes, it’s only 1:1 redemption for PYB – BUT it still may be a lot less than what you could have done for a 2:1 redemption for a trip you don’t value as much.
For instance – flying to a Caribbean destination and staying all-inclusive on points vs getting on a cruise that costs less than that by half, using half the total points but only getting 1:1

Instead of points, you should see if you can do any of the free cruise matches.

The Avianca fee is not $12.
Avianca has a $25 partner booking fee – so if you’re seeing $12, it will be at least $37.
Unfortunately, Avianca sometimes does not show some taxes in the initial search results.
Ultimately, it will likely end up being almost the same as what Aeroplan is charging in taxes and fees.
