At that time of night, it seems worth it to spend the money on a taxi or Uber/Lyft and get to the hotel directly.

To get the rental car you might have to get on a shuttle, which will add time.

We also use Turo, given all the issues with Hertz.

Used Turo twice in Hawaii, excellent experience.

AMICA covers Turo but we also took Turo insurance for the simplicity.

Update your frequent flyer program in your reservation.

    It may help.

Depends on the fare class of the award ticket.

Just look up the fare class once you see it when going through the award booking steps.

All I know is that if it’s X, you can’t cancel or modify.

You need to use the Chase Portal to book the hotel and charge at least $50 on your Chase Sapphire Reserve to get the credit.

Doesn’t matter for when the booking is.

If you have the cash float it’s easiest for me to put everything on automatic payment and not worry about it.

The only way to know which partner to choose is to search for a flight that works for you and see how much it costs in points for that partner.

Search for specific award flights that you want before transferring.

The easiest partners to search that cover most of the bases are British Airways Executive Club (for OneWorld), AirFrance Flying Blue (for SkyTeam), and Air Canada Aeroplan (for Star).

There are some potentially better deals for the same flights with some of the other transfer partners but some of them have some frustrating quirks and these three generally have the easiest learning curve (although none is completely without hassle).

    No, you need separate accounts.

Hotel programs allow you to transfer points to each other (with a limit).

Most airlines have quite a bit of a charge to transfer points to others although some such as British Airways have a family pooling feature.

I think you can match to Best Western but having elite status with them isn’t worth much outside of increased points earning.

If you’re an IHG loyalist, I think the IHG Premier Card is a pretty good value, but you’d have to look at the benefits and decide for yourself.

    You can also try StatusMatch.com

Been to both and they are both quite different.

Conrad had better food options, the Waldorf Astoria has a more luxurious overall feel.

I stayed in the Muraka Underwater Residence and that makes the Conrad very unique.

If I were to go back to either, I’d do the Waldorf Astoria for the ambiance.

Just do the Conrad as I can’t imagine it’s worth doing 3 nights anywhere in the Maldives, let alone the WA.

We did 7 nights and it was on the back end of a 3.5 week Asia trip, but we could easily have stayed 10 nights if we didn’t have a life to get back to in the States.
