You might get a discount if you contact the tour providers directly.

    Maybe get a group discount.

    The legalese is pretty clear.

They mean travel booked via the Chase portal with points.

If you transfer to an airline program you didn’t book the ticket with Chase points.

You booked it with the airline points/miles.

That said, you’re still covered if you pay taxes/fees with the card.

I’d wait at least 3 months between Chase applications.

Apply for cards from other issuers in the meantime.

February 22, 2023 at 11:28 pm in reply to: Why Are Virgin Atlantic Awards So Expensive For Taxes?

You’re not missing anything, Virgin still offers a set award chart by class of service with just a peak and a low season adjustment whereas many other airlines have gone to dynamic pricing.

Their award prices can fluctuate a lot based on pricing.

Yes, the taxes are higher with Virgin but the points are reasonable, especially if you can get a transfer bonus.

If you’re flying Upper Class from LHR on the return, be sure to have your cab drop you at the Upper Class wing.

You’ll have a dedicated check-in and can whiz through security screening then head right to the Virgin Clubhouse lounge.

    It’s brilliant!

I have not stayed in SE Asia or South Pacific.

Just remember that the hotel must have suites available for you to use your upgrades.

Hyatt SUAs are not like Marriott and 1 award will last up to 7 days.

Offer to pay the contractor’s supplier with your credit card.

I did a bathroom remodel and paid for all the supplies on my credit card.

From the contractor’s standpoint, you could dispute the bill on a credit card,

Depends on how much he trusts you and how you trust him.

The Citi AA Business Card has an elevated sign up bonus right now.

Bonus categories don’t matter if your goal is status because all cards earn 1LP/$ regardless of the spend categories so just pick whatever AA card you want.

If possible try to stack your purchases through the AA shopping portal for additional LPs.
