Stayed at Andaz Liverpool Street and Great Scotland Yard on 2 separate trips.
Great Scotland Yard is amazing.
A true boutique hotel.
They even remember that I stayed there before.
Andaz Liverpool Street feels like a convention hotel.
It is really large and sterile.
Would not recommend staying there.

You have to file a claim with the last airline flown if you are connecting.
You will need that document from the airline saying that your bag was lost or delayed, to submit to the airline or insurance for reimbursement.

Traffic between those two airports can be absolutely heinous.
If it’s feasible I’d fly into DFW versus trying to transfer.

Genuine and possibly stupid question – are you sure you actually have to go through immigration?
This is EU to EU and both are Schengen countries, so I thought there’s no immigration involved.
Only have to clear immigration at JFK.
Am I wrong?

At 12 hours you can even hit Ghent or Brugge if you truly want to.
Their public transportation is one of the best around.
Otherwise, if that is too stressful their historic center is nice but that’s about it for Brussels IMO.
Get some drinks and fries.

Yes, you can cancel for free BUT you have to call in because you still can’t cancel awards online.

OneWorld is an umbrella – but your status is attached to one airline.
That airline’s frequent flyer number has to be on your booking.
I don’t know if you can do that via BA’s website (a lot of airlines don’t allow you to add another airline’s frequent flyer number on award bookings) but you should be able to do it via Finnair or Royal Jordanian’s websites.

If you’re looking to board in Breckenridge or Keystone, check out The Pad in Silverthorne.
It’s one of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed in.
The weekday prices are pretty reasonable during peak season too.
There’s a hot tub and bar.
The staff is great and I’ve always met nice travelers.
The complimentary coffee is a bonus too.

FNC’s typically can only be used when there are standard rooms available.
For example, if just suites are just available, you won’t be able to use the FNC on that

More than likely the United Polaris lounge will let you in unless it is super busy.
You can try some of the other Star Alliance lounges otherwise.
I have spent 9 hours in the LAX lounge in between flights.
No issue.

We got Allianz’s annual policy and put the most minimum amount for flights/hotels, in order to get the medical /repatriation.
Everything we do is either points or can be canceled.

Just be careful that it’s a fully refundable ticket and that you need to push to elect to have it in the form of Alaska credits and not a refund back to the original payment.
I recently did this myself, just wasn’t on purpose.
