I have used Google Fi in the US and have traveled internationally over 7 years.
Love it!
It is the only data service you don’t need to pay extra when traveling overseas.
The service is seamless.

The Amex Platinum for the US does provide emergency evacuation assistance at no charge in certain circumstances.
They must find a need for it, and don’t provide it just because you get sick.

What I did was pay for an annual policy from Allianz (note that there are probably other good providers, I’m not trying to promote them).
It covers emergency medical evacuation up to $500,000 and gives medical coverage up to $50,000, which may be spent fast if you have a major emergency.
The policy on medical repatriation (as opposed to medical evacuation ) looks to me as a non-specialist to be a little more generous than AMEX.

The ticket has not been issued yet by the travel agency.
Give it 24-48 hours.
If after this the ticket has not been issued call Capital One and ask them what is going on.
However, when the ticket is issued you should be able to see your accrual for the trip.

To use it on your computer, right-click anywhere on your screen, inspect the element, and in Chrome there is a computer icon at the top, if you change that to a phone the t mobile wifi sign-in will pop up.
Works for me every time!

The quickest way to get Globalist right now would be to either qualify through a corporate challenge or through the Founder’s Card challenge.
Both will give you Explorist status immediately and then you can qualify for Globalist through Feb 2025 by staying 20 nights in 90 days.
Founder’s Card has a hefty upfront fee, but you can get a discount if you get a referral.

I would not head out of CDG during a 5 hour layover.
Just do the Air France lounge and enjoy.

Virgin Atlantic has one of the best redemption programs, but the fees can be almost $1,000 a ticket so might be better to find an award on another airline.

I always just flat-out ask them if they take credit cards.
After they know I’m going to do it with or without them, they will take credit card payments without a fee or at least with a fee.

Are you prepaying with cash?
It makes more sense to just book the hotel with cash or points in the beginning and then monitor the price and rebook.
I never pre-pay stays for this reason bc the prices fluctuate all the time

Yes, you will instantly get the points back.
However always read the fine print because some expensive hotels (like ski hotels) have cancellation policies that require 3 months advance notice.

It takes like 3 days to get there.
Anything less than a week, I wouldn’t go there.
If you are going for 3 days, don’t waste your time and money, the opportunity cost is too high.
Better to enjoy romantic cities like Paris or Florence or Vienna for such a short visit!
